News From Around The Web

As one looks around, you wonder what in the hell is going on the world. To be truthful, I think much of what is happening now in the world has always been there. As we have previously discussed, human nature has not changed. What has changed is our ability to communicate, the ability to see what is going in the instant.

Throughout history land areas were tribal and ruled for the most part ruled by those who claimed to be entitled by religion or wealth. The entitled decree was law. That changed in 1776 when some people said enough was enough. Was the founding perfect? No, however, included in that document was a way to improve it. With the document, the Founders used a checks and balance system to maintain the rights we were born with. The Founders understood human nature and knew what could result from human nature.  Remember what James Madison said in Federalist 53, “Men are not angels…”.

As the population became educated, we were able to see what B.S. is and what is not B.S. As the old adage goes, “knowledge is power”. Well, the entitled did not or does want to give up that power.

 Woke

To understand “Woke” you need to know where is comes from. One of the main tenants of “Woke” is Critical Race Theory.  Initially we had “Critical Theory” which is the Western Marxist Philosophy from the Frankfurt School in Germany.

Using ideas of Karl Marx and Sigmund Freud, Critical Theory seeks “to liberate human beings from the circumstances that enslave them”, said Max Horkheimer. To put it simply, you are not responsible for your own actions, cultural and societal structures are.

Communism is Socialism pure and simple. As power accumulates so do the losses of your induvial rights. For those who do not remember, there was once a wall separating the east from west, not to keep people out but to keep them in. This is a worldwide issue.

 Free Speech

The ability to criticize is a fundamental right. Yet, now, when doing so, one fears of being called a raciest, denier etc. Essentially, they try to cancel you and ostracize out of existence. This is a technique right out of the East German Stasi playbook called the Disintegration Directive. Developed due to the Helsinki accords when they could not just pick you up and beat the shit out of you. Much like our justice today, where you are guilty until you prove you are innocent.

Does limiting conversation and the ability to discuss issues help resolve those issues? Or does just give the anointed more power over you?

 Father’s Day

There is no doubt one of the hardest things I have ever done was being a parent. As hard as it is, being a single parent is even more difficult. While growing up my parents were divorced at a time, I was busy with sports and growing up. I knew no longer would we all be able to sit around the dinner table and discuss what happen in our day as a family, something I would really miss. Also gone was the ability to discuss the game you just finished playing before watching film with teammates.

No longer was the firm hand of experience there every night. While times change, experiences do not. I was fortunate to have TWO parents who loved and supported me through all the trials and tribulations of growing up. My only regret was not always listening because my dad was a lot more right than wrong.

As a father raising a daughter seems as if the challenges are even greater and at sometimes uncomfortable. I would imagine the same as a single mother raising a son. Most notably is when she starts her period at your house and wants to borrow some of your pads. Next thing you know, you are scrambling to get to the store to buy every kind of pad that is on the shelf. Thank God the manager let me bring the ones she did not choose back. But the break-ups may be the worse.

Through it all you wonder if yours is listening or watching. It was when she told me her new boyfriend would open the door like “you do for Miss ….” did I realize she knew she would not have to put up with any B.S. from some idiot she deserved to be treated like a lady. Maybe she was paying attention to examples.

So, contrary to what is seen on sit-coms dads are important. I know I would not trade my dad for any other and I hope my daughter feels the same way when she is my age.

As I always end, these are my opinions. I have no desire to force my beliefs on anyone. Look research from outlets you do not normally read and make your own mind up.

See you next week.
