Reflections of this past year.
Using techniques established by two extraordinarily successful writers, Winston Churchill, and Ernest Hemmingway of hydrating with cocktails and cigars, I decided to share with you, my reflections of the last year. As so I would not see Rainbows and Unicorns, I decided to limit the liquid in my process to two Martinis.
Once while reading a book that for the life of me, I cannot remember the tittle I can across a statement made by the author that has always stuck with me. He said, “We Americans think we are free. But, in reality, we are like captured animals living in a natural habitat.” In essence, we are controlled. I was not sure what to think about at the time. However, as I look back on these last 15 months, I think he may be correct.
The year for me started with a bang. My team, LSU Tigers, had just won the national championship. Mardi Gras had come and gone. The economy was booming and unemployment across all demographics was at an all-time low.
In what at the time was a blip on my radar screen, President Trump decided to halt all travel into the country from China. His decision to do so was met with ridicule from the same people who were peddling the false narrative of the Russian Dossier.
A short time later, the decision was made to begin the lock downs in states. Two weeks we were told, to get in front of the curve. The two weeks became four weeks, then 6 weeks. We had no end in sight. The “experts “, as always were wrong on every front. Lives were being changed. People who had scrimped to start their own businesses were losing everything. Yet many large corporations were thriving. Everyone’s life would change.
High school juniors and seniors could not attend their prom or participate in sports. No graduations or weddings were allowed. Governors essentially committed murder by mandating the most vulnerable be put in nursing homes thus depriving comfort and love from those dying. Would people ever totally get over this?
Now we come to a happening of just over a year ago. The death of George Floyd. I am not going to go into all the numbers, we have seen them in nauseum. (Here) Life is a valuable commodity, no one’s life is more valuable than another’s. With that being said, while Mr. Floyds death was tragic, there are many others who should be cantonized before him. On either side of the aisle, all it would have taken was one change in critical thinking and Mr. Floyd would still be alive. Was Mr. Floyd complicit in his own death? That is for you to decide.
By allowing the “protest” following Mr. Floyds death, once again the hypocrisy of our governing overlords was on full display. It was ok to mandate business to shutter and close due to Covid fears, yet thousands of people near each other was not a danger?
The “protests” produced 18 deaths of innocent people. Many who were trying to protect their businesses. All who have already been forgotten. The destruction caused by the “peaceful protests” was more than $2,000,000,000,.00. (2 Billion) due to arson, vandalism, and looting. This all happened while the government looked on and some cheered.
With the Clown Show, (the DNC’s primary) over we were able to see the DNC’s ticket running for the White House. For the second consecutive presidential cycle, the Democrats favorite political Cuckhold, Brother Bernie was screwed again by the party he wanted to represent. The GOP’s primary 4 years earlier was no better. Come on, did anyone really want to see a Bush vs. Clinton again.
For Vice President, the DNC proposed a woman who was so unpopular she did not even make it to the primaries. The top choice as we all know was touchy, feely Uncle Joe. This is a man that his old boss, President Obama said, “Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to fuck things up.” Robert Gates, President Obama’s Secretary of Defense went on to say, “Joe Biden has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security over the past 4 decades.”
There is an adage “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree”. I would be remised if I failed to comment on the on the first son. What a P.O.S. On top of his shady deals, this guy goes out and does his dead brothers’ wife. Who does that? Could you even begin to imagine if one of President’s Trump’s kids had done that?
For the election, I do not know if fraud did occur. What I do know is there was manipulation. (Here) Personally, I just find it a stretch to believe a guy who never really campaigned garnered more votes than President Obama.
Finally, we have the “armed insurrection of the Capital”. The one which according to the FBI, no guns were found. (Here) What do have is a woman Air Force veteran shot to death by the Capital Police. (Here)
Even the best fiction writer would have problems making this up. These and so many other things make you wonder is everything we been taught and led to believe are lies? Maybe that author was right, we are like captured animals living in a natural habitat.
